On the waves of Saint Nicolò

On the waves of Saint Nicolò On the waves of Saint Nicolò

Three kilometers of golden beach. We are in Buggerru, a village looking at itself in the waters of South-Western Sardinia. This wide strip of shimmering sand, surrounded by junipers and lentiscos, is called San Nicolò.

It connects the small harbour of Buggerru with the seafront of Portixeddu. Further away, Capo Pecora on one side and Cala Domestica on the other, as if to close the embrace of the gulf.

The name San Nicolò comes from a small stream that winds its way towards the water edge from the lush green of the vegetation. Protected from the Sirocco wind during the days of calm sea, the coast of San Nicolò becomes a favorite destination for surfers when the Mistral blows. It is no coincidence that surfers from all over the world meet here, even in low season.

The shallow and sandy seabed makes this an ideal place also for those who want to relax in the heat of the summer sun. In fact, crowds of campers often come here to enjoy the “golden hour” of the sunset, when the sun seems to fall into the sea, giving birth to unique colors: pink, orange, light violet. Panoramas that seem to come out of the palette of an impressionist painter. Just a moment and the look captures all the beauty of nature.

The sound of the undertow; the warmth of the golden beach; the song of the birds that nest among the domestic pines; the frame of sandy dunes that encloses one of gems of the Costa Verde. San Nicolò is the very ideal place for those looking for an intimate and personal contact with the most beautiful and wild corners of Sardinia.

Let's forget, for a moment, the daily chaos, the worldly life, the hectic routine and the smartphone anxiety: here is only suspended time. The one in which everything stops, the wind caresses the skin full of salt and the breath is in harmony with the natural rhythms.
