A tiny plot of white and golden sand brushed by the soft sun. A corner of paradise that takes your breath away. Cala Burantino, like many beautiful beaches in our country, is not easy to access.
We are a few kilometers from Alghero, in one of the wildest spots in Sardinia. Together with Paola, Sardinian doc with a passion for adventure and discovery, we take Provincial Road 105 towards Bosa. After passing the “Canal dell'Omo Molt”, we leave the car in a dirt parking lot and start our walk along a narrow street, among spontaneous shrubs and prickly pears, with the hum of bees in the ears and the garrits of seagulls in the distance.
The landscape is like a gallery of watercolors: the sea is blue and emerald green, the sky is turquoise, the rocks are red and purple, the Mediterranean vegetation is bright green. Despite the rocky soil, the plants took root. Cistus, heather, juniper, myrtle, strawberry tree, broom and wild rosemary color the coast and their scents soothe the labors of hikers.
Walking, we bump into a huge square ditch. «It is the old quarry of El Boulantì. Here the sandstone blocks were extracted to create the buildings of Alghero, the historic center and the enclosure walls», Paola narrates.
When the air becomes more pungent and traces of salt appear on the bushes, we can feel that the sea is close. And in fact after a while we find ourselves in front of the uncontaminated landscape of two beautiful coves. The first is rocky, full of cliffs and crashing waves, the second is characterized by golden and soft sand. How can we not dive right away?
A few steps in the water and we can feel like little tremors on the ankles. «They are the sea breams – Paola smiles – they love the dead cells of our skin!». Groups of fishes run around the seabed, small groupers bypass the rocks with an inquisitive attitude, a lone kayaker enjoys the sea and nature. If someone wanted to draw Eden, it would be like Cala Burantino.
