On the south side of Capo Palinuro is one of the most beautiful inlets in the Mediterranean: the Baia del Buondormire (Bay of Good sleep). Site of Community Interest and Special Protection Area, it has been named several times the most beautiful beach in Italy.

This does not sound strange to those who know it: it is in fact a beach of fine white sand, immersed in the lush Mediterranean vegetation, surrounded by rocks overlooking the sea, flowed through crystal clear waters whose colors take on incredible shades of emerald green.
It is not far from the Scoglio del Coniglio, the Marinella beach, Cala Longa and the Natural Arch: the whole is a panorama of rare beauty. For its colors and atmospheres it could be a Caribbean or Thai beach. Its exotic beauty makes visitors confused.

Its dimensions are limited, and it can only be reached by sea: an additional element of charm, especially in the low season, when going there really means enjoying a piece of paradise in an extraordinary peace of mind.
If Nature were not enough, Myth is also added to its charm. Legend has it that Ulysses was tied to the mast of his ship here, so that he could hear the sirens’ song without giving in. And legend has it that the Siren Molpé, nicknamed "the Leggiadra", rested here, which also gave its name to the promontory where one of the two oldest residential areas of Palinuro, the promontory of Molpa, was built.

The Buondormire Bay can be reached with organized tours, with a stop of about 15 minutes. But there is also a less traveled and more suggestive solution: reach it by kayak, even better if accompanied by expert guides. There are in fact numerous and very interesting options to allow anyone who wishes to discover and experience this authentic enchantment.
